The Essentials of Essential Oils

You’ve most likely heard of essential oils before and as people look for natural ways to stay healthy (and keep their homes smelling fresh), essential oils only continue to grow in popularity. They can offer many health benefits and are a natural way to maintain better health. With so many essential oils to choose from, it can be overwhelming to know where to even start. Here are a few of our favorite essential oils that you can use daily for better health.

Lemon
Lemon has antibacterial, antiviral, and antihistamine properties. It is a great natural cleaner and can even be used to make your own cleaning products as it helps kill bacteria while giving off a fresh scent. Lemon can also be used for insect bites or wounds and a few drops in your shampoo can invigorate your senses in the morning while stimulating hair growth. Be sure to check before applying to the skin as lemon can increase sun sensitivity.

Peppermint
Peppermint is perfect for when you need to focus. Just a whiff of it can increase your concentration. Peppermint is great to have handy while at work, particularly because most of us could use a little brain boost during the day. Peppermint is also helpful for headaches, upset stomach, and even neck pain.

Lavender
Lavender is well-known for its relaxing properties. It is often used to promote calmness, reduce stress, and even help improve sleep habits. Lavender can also support digestive health and skin health, but just the smell alone is reason enough to use lavender in your home.
