Our Tips to Keep Your New Year’s Resolutions and Health Goals

As January comes to a close, it is the prime time for people to lose sight of their New Year’s resolutions and health goals. It may seem like forever ago, but just a few weeks have passed since we committed to accomplishing our health goals for the year. If, despite your best efforts, you have been unable to maintain your New Year’s resolutions, here are our tips.

Be Realistic

Evaluate your goals and make sure your resolutions are realistic. If it is unlikely that you can accomplish your goals, don’t set yourself up for failure. For example, if your goal was to go from exercising once a month to high-intensity workouts 6x/week, it’s probably not going to happen. Not only do you risk injury, but that is a huge lifestyle shift. A more realistic and healthier approach would be to commit to eating a well-balanced diet and exercising 4x/week and slowly increasing workout days from there.

Start with a Plan

When it comes to accomplishing any goal, a plan is important. Think about it — for just about any big event, you make a plan. If you have a work presentation, you gather and prepare your information. If you are hosting an event, you plan out the details. Plans are important when it comes to working toward a goal.

Additionally, an important part of goal planning is to consider where things could go wrong. It’s easy to quit when things get rough if you don’t have a plan. Think about potential obstacles and challenges you may come across. When you know what you want to accomplish and how to do it, including the obstacles you might face, you will be better prepared to stick it out when things get tough. Stay honest with yourself and set realistic goals, plan for the future, and check off your accomplishments as you go!

Maintain Regular Chiropractic Care

This might be one of the easiest resolutions you can keep for your health, but make spinal health a priority this year. When you have a healthy spine, the rest of your body systems are better able to perform enhancing your health. And when your health improves, your body is better able to fight off illness, heal from injuries, and you can enjoy feeling great. Don’t let a nervous system that is functioning poorly keep you from accomplishing your health goals in 2021.
