Holiday Self-Care & Stress Relief
November 25, 2024
For many people, the New Year is a fresh start. But if you’re suffering from back pain, it just means another year in pain! To help relieve back pain, why not start with your New Year’s Resolutions? Here are our suggestions.
Exercise
Exercise is essential for a healthy body and there are many benefits of regular exercise. It strengthens core muscles that provide support for the spine and encourages weight loss, which helps remove excess strain from the lower back. Activities that encourage stretching – like yoga – are also great to incorporate as they release muscular tension that painfully pulls on the spine and promote spinal flexibility.
Improve Posture
Posture can have a huge impact on back pain, especially for those that spend the majority of their day hunched over a desk or computer. Make sure you have an ergonomic workspace including a supportive chair, wrist support, and that your computer is at eye-level. Practicing proper posture is also key, here. Rest Up
Many of us simply don’t get enough sleep. You’re probably aware of the obvious side effects of sleeplessness – like enhanced irritability – but did you know it can also cause physical irritability in the body? If you don’t give your body the time it needs to repair and restore, both physically and mentally, it can cause increased inflammation and back pain. Try to get between t 7-8 hours of restful sleep each night.
